Education

Many people misunderstand pain.  Even patients and healthcare professionals frequently fail to recognize the important components and consequences of poorly controlled pain.  Psychological, social, cognitive, behavioral and physical factors are involved in the causes and consequences of pain.  Sorting out the elements and understanding the precise nature of an individual's pain can be a complex process.

Many pain syndromes are resistant to treatment, making it difficult for both patients and physicians to communicate expectations and interpret results.

Accordingly, education is an essential component of the Pain Center.  We sponsor seminars, training, and conferences for the professional community, and provide programs and materials for the public.
